The Australian National Classic Scooter Rally, ANCSR, is a big one on the scootering calendar, and has been running in Australia (obviously) since 2008, the concept being that a dedicated scooter rally exists for all types of classic scooters.
There are a few rallies throughout the year, for various types of scooter, and some include the more modern automatic scooters, but this one does not.
It is a collection and melting pot of older scooters, generally geared, metal bodied scooters, from all over the country.
The ANCSR moves around the country, state by state, each year with a scooter club in each state hosting it, this keeps it as fair as possible and means that we are not all travelling to the same place.
Previously, and up until this website (2024), each year a new website was started from scratch with a new website address.
This website can be bookmarked and serves to offer a glimpse of previous years, and most importantly will have the latest information on the current years event, with links to ticketing, where it is, what will happen, best places to stay, etc, etc.
Whoever hosts the rally, runs the website, it is run by a classic scooter club in whichever state, and they do it for free and the love!
The Mille
And of course, not forgetting the National’s gruelling sister, the Mille, an event that usually precedes the ANCSR and is a challenging 1000km over 2 days on classics scooters with no modern gadgets to guide or assist, it is back to paper maps and padded seats!
It is a reliability trial and not a race, with a handicap system, along with a random allotted time, is used to determine an overall winner.
